HR Director, Jeffersonville, IN 

Position Summary: The Human Resources Director manages the Human Resources function for the entire organization. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer of the company, and interfaces with the President, Chief Operations Officer, members of the Core Team, and other managers along with the companies’ entire employee base and is engaged in all aspects of the operation as they relate to human capital needs. The position manages the Human Resources Department staff and provides a full range of human resources functions to include compensation, benefits, compliance, design and implementation of recruiting and interviewing for new employees, collaboration with field managers and team members, and general support of human resources functions. The Director will work in partnership with the company’s Safety and Risk Vice President in developing and sourcing training, providing input and support for disaster recovery, and provide input and long range planning assistance in the development and implementation of an HRIS. The HR Director will also assist the CEO, President, and CFO in communicating the culture and mission to local and regional offices and team members. The position will interface with all levels of employees throughout the company and will from time to time travel to the companies’ regional offices and to educational seminars, HRM meetings, and other skill enhancing conferences/meetings.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a leadership team member, ensuring human capital needs and company needs are met.
  • Develop strategies that align with organizational objectives.
  • Design, implement, and manage training and development for the organization.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance will all current prevailing regulations at federal, state and local levels.
  • Serve as a resource for employees by handling questions and helping resolve work-related problems.
  • Plan and administer policies relating to all phases of Human Resources operations.
  • Advise managers on organizational matters such as equal employment opportunity, sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes and resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Oversee all recruiting process.
  • Assist with planning and conducting new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
  • Act as a business partner and primary point of contact for managers for daily questions that arise.
  • Prepare and maintain Human Resources budget.
  • Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assist with administering and negotiating cost-effective benefits programs such as life, health, dental, vision and disability insurances, vacation, sick leave, leave of absences, and employee assistance.
  • Lead accident investigations and prepare reports for Workers' Compensation insurance carrier.
  • Manage Affirmative Action (AA) and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) programs.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.


Essential Skills and Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS required) from a four-year college or university in Business, Administration, or Human Resources, with a concentration of HR classes.
  • 6-10 years of experience as a Human Resources Manager or Director.
  • SPHR-SCP or SPHR designation/certification required.
  • Multi-State operation management preferred.
  • Travel 2 to 3 days per month required.
  • Hands-on responsibility for the full scope of human resources activities, in both operations and analysis.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or issues.
  • Experience in contract negotiation, when dealing with brokers and preferred vendors.
  • High ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion, in a timely matter meeting/exceeding deadline.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Possess a self-starting attitude, bringing innovative ideas to strategic initiatives and a proactive approach to the department.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook) and have experience with an HRIS and processes.
  • Familiar with all Local, State, Federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Interstate transportation regulations a plus.
