PRESIDENT - Ed Carpenter, SHRM-SCP. SPHR
Ed Carpenter has been working in the HR field for over 26 years and is the Corporate Director of Human Resources for Superior Van & Mobility and is based in their corporate office in Louisville KY. Superior Van & Mobility is an industry leader providing state-of-the-art mobility solutions for the consumer and commercial transportation industry and a proud member of the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association. Ed provides full support for all human resources functions for the company’s ten locations in South Bend IN, Ft. Wayne IN, Indianapolis IN, Evansville IN, Louisville KY, Lexington KY, Knoxville TN, New Orleans LA, and Baton Rouge LA.  

Ed has been a member of SISHRM since shortly after the chapter was formed. He has served as the Chapter Certification Director and Workforce Readiness Director for several years and most recently as President Elect for the chapter. Ed attended IU Southeast, is SPHR and SHRM-SCP certified, and has been an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech co-teaching the SHRM Certification Prep Course for seven years. He is also the current Board Secretary and past Chairperson for the Region 10 Workforce Investment Board overseeing WorkOne offices and funding covering a six county local area. As an avid gardener and woodworker, he and his wife Patsy enjoy living in the rural hills of Washington County and enjoy supporting their daughter Amanda's business, Amazing Grace Digital Photography & Imaging.

As President of SISHRM, Ed's role is to provide leadership to the local chapter consistent with state, regional, and SHRM policy, strategies and objectives. Effectively operate the chapter so that the needs of the members are met.  Perform other duties as required by the local chapter's bylaws.  Serve as a voting member of the state council. 


PRESIDENT ELECT - Dr. Marilyn Faulkenburg, EdD, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP

Dr. Marilyn Faulkenburg, is full time faculty in the Graduate School at Sullivan University and teaches in the Human Resource, Management and Leadership program. She has over 30 years of experience in business and 6 years exclusively in Human Resources. Marilyn has opened MJ Training and Consulting and specializes in Emergenetics and other training: ethics in the workplace, team building, leadership, change management, conflict resolution, communications, supervisor training, problem solving and decision making and customer service.

As President Elect of SISHRM, Marilyn's role is to assist the president in overseeing all the activities of the chapter. In the absence of the president, perform all the presidential responsibilities. Marilyn is also in charge of all of the programming for the year 2017/2018 and will eventually move into the President's role for 2018.


SECRETARY – Anne Valois, SHRM- CP, PHR

Anne Valois is HR Manager at WireCrafters LLC, a manufacturing company on the south side of Louisville. She was previously HR Manager for Culinary Standards, where she made great use of her bi-lingual (Spanish) skills. Prior to relocating to New Albany from her native England to get married, she was a School Business Manager for several years. She has a BA in Business Administration & French and is PHR/SHRM-CP certified. She wishes she had more vacation time to visit her Mum and two grown up children back in the UK!.

As Secretary of SISHRM, Anne's role is to take minutes of board meetings and actions, provide notice of meetings and general correspondence to the board.  Maintain chapter records and history, in addition to making sure the chapter completes and hits all goals that pertain to our SHAPE initiatives.  


TREASURER – Courtney Brutscher, SHRM-CP, PHR

Courtney Brutscher is currently the Director of Human Resources for Goodwill of Southern Indiana, Inc. located in Clarksville.  She has worked for Goodwill for 10 years and has been a member of SISHRM for 4 years volunteering where needed.  Courtney has a BA in Psychology from Purdue University and is PHR and SHRM-CP certified.  She lives in Georgetown with her husband, two children, and a dog.

As Treasurer of SISHRM, Courtney acts as financial officer and advisor to chapter board of directors.  Maintains the chapter mailbox and distributes mail to the appropriate officer, director, or chair.  Send dues notices and other invoices to members.  File appropriate forms and information with IRS.



DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP – Ashley Readling

Ashley Readling is the Southern Indiana Community Engagement Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, where she cultivates and stewards relationships in Clark, Floyd, and Harrison Counties that recruit volunteers and raise revenue for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Ashley joined SISHRM in 2015, and volunteered as the interim Director of Hospitality prior to joining the board as the Director of Membership in 2017. Ashley also serves on the Family Support Committee and the Development Committee with Habitat for Humanity in Floyd County. A lifelong Hoosier, Ashley lives in Southern Indiana with her seven-year-old son, Gavin, and her three-legged dog, Max

As Director of Membership, Ashley manages the membership function to successfully achieve an increase in chapter membership. Ashley and her membership team provide new chapter orientations in conjunction with the Director of Communications and successfully maintains the membership database.

DIRECTOR OF PROFESSIONAL & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT - Todd Garrison, SHRM-SCP

As the Director of Professional & Workforce Development, Todd will serve on the programming committee to provide seminars, workshops and other professional development opportunities for the chapter membership as well as obtaining re-certification credits from both HRCI and SHRM. Monitor and evaluate on a continuing basis local activities concerning workforce readiness issues and plans and encourages chapter involvement and activities impacting the workforce readiness arena.  Presents a report or update to the chapter president and fellow chapter members.  Works in cooperation with state-level workforce readiness advocates. 


DIRECTOR OF EXTERNAL RELATIONS – Erica Sharp

Erica Sharp began her career in Human Resources with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1992, following that she started as an Client Account Manager for Lightyear Communications from 1999-2001, which led her to a career with Humana, where she is was for 14+ years , as an Agency Relationship Manager, serving employer groups of 2-299 eligible employees with their benefits portfolio. In November of 2016 Erica moved into her new role with Assured Partners NL as an Employee Benefit Advisor. In this role Eric leverages Assureds National Leadership in the industry to help clients manage risk by developing insurance and risk management programs tailored for employers unique needs. Erica majored in Business Administrative and Management from Indiana University-Southeast. She is very active in community and Military service projects and has a passion to give back to those that have sacrificed for our county. Erica is a resident of Floyds Knobs and enjoys spending time with her husband of 13 years Matt Sharp and her children, Dustin (28), Laney, (12), and Tyler (9). In her spare time Erica enjoys running, in the early morning hours, with her friends, participating in many races local and surrounding states.

As the Director of External Relations, Erica will manage relationships with all of our sponsors and businesses who wish to participate with SISHRM. She is the "go-to" in obtaining information on advertising or partnering with our chapter.


DIRECTOR OF HOSPITALITY – Susan Woods, SHRM-SCP, SPHR
Susan Woods is the Director of Recruitment for Talis Group, Inc. and has been helping regional manufacturers hire talented professional for over 25 years. Susan served on the Board for One Southern Indiana for 6 years and has been a member of SISHRM since 2007. She is a monthly presenter for Business First’s Grow Your Career seminars and often speaks to local associations regarding recruitment and career development. As the Hospitality Director, Susan will welcome new members into the chapter and coordinate the logistics of monthly membership meetings and our annual conference.


DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS- Chelsea Schmelz


As Director of Communications, Chelsea will provide timely and comprehensive information to chapter members about programs, workshops, and other matters of interest via chapter publications.  Create and maintain a favorable image of the chapter working for the professional development of its members by:  (a) keeping membership informed of chapter projects, activities and upcoming meetings, and (b) disseminating relevant professional information viewed as beneficial to the members.  Lead the newsletter, Web site, and marketing committee.


DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY – Erin M. Stevens, SHRM-CP, PHR

Erin Stevens is a Corporate Recruiter with MasterBrand Cabinets, based out of Jasper, Indiana. She holds her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Arts in Human Resources, and is PHR and SHRM-CP certified. She has been very involved with SISHRM since joining in 2009 where she started in obtaining sponsorships, volunteering at the spring conference, and finally moving to a board role and serving as Secretary, President Elect, President and FINALLY Past President. Erin also sits on the Indiana State Council as Director of Technology for the past three years. When Erin isn't busy with work or SHRM, she is a Jazzercise Instructor, part time runner, and social media nerd. She lives in Southern Indiana with her husband Brad and her furbabies. 

As Director of Technology, Erin will manage and maintain the SISHRM website, research and make recommendations for the chapter's technology needs. She will also assist in set up for any meetings. 


PAST PRESIDENT – Marcia Bickers, SHRM-SCP, SPHR

Marcia Bickers was the former Manager of Employee Benefit Services for Monroe Shine CPAs where she focused on retirement plan design and administration for clients in the Louisville metro area. Marcia has a BS in Finance from IUPUI and is SPHR certified. She previously served on the membership committee for four years. Marcia is also one of the few Hoosier members of the Louisville Employee Benefits Council.

As Past President, Marcia will advise the president and other officers and members of the board of directors regarding past practices, general operations, and other matters to assist in the smooth operation of the chapter.  Past President is a non-voting board role.
